Dave, who produced and
played on the Big Band Alumni’s
recent sell-out CD, DANCE PARTY, and
now the newly released DANCING WITH THE
ALL STARS, is perhaps
best known in the music world as the leader of The Dave
Pell Octet. For years the Octet has been considered one of
the best purveyors of jazz music, with more than thirty hit albums to
his
credit. As a side man, Dave played with many of the best and best-known
swing
bands of the swing era including: Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry
James and
Les Brown. He and the Octet are credited with creating “West Coast
Jazz,” in
the 1950s.
