HOWARD "HOTSY" KATZ

HOWARD "HOTSY" KATZ
“Hotsy” started studying trumpet when he was nine years old and by the time he was in his teens was a regular with a well-known Chicago swing band that also featured one of the Big Band Alumni’s tenor sax men, Ira Schulman and the late, great jazz pianist, Lou Levy. Hotsy continued his studies in New York, St. Louis, and eventually in Europe where he played from 1976 through 1980. He eventually left Chicago to join Charlie Ventura in New York. He went on to play with Hal McIntyre, Stan Kenton and Buddy Rich.
