JOHN SETAR (Alto Sax, Flute, Clarinet)
John Setar, who,
like some others in the Big Band Alumni,
has led his own orchestra, has played with some of the best swing bands
of all
time, including Jess Stacey, Buddy Morrow, Freddy Martin, Jerry Gray,
Bob
Crosby, and Billy Vaughn. He was a regular with the Steve Allen Tonight
Show
Band and with network television orchestras on a number of shows
including the
Andy Williams Show, the Rockford Files, the Incredible Hulk, the Black
Sheep Squadron,
and Magnum, P.1. For two years he worked with the Orchestra for The
Peoples’
Choice Awards; for three years with the orchestra for the Directors’
Guild
Awards, and for Bob Hope’s Birthday Special and President
Jimmy Carter’s
pre-inauguration television
special.
