ROY WIEGAND

ROY WIEGAND, (Trombone)  

Was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and early in his career played in the Stan Kenton Orchestra. Then in late 1957 he joined Woody Herman in New York and played at the Copacabana, Plaza Hotel. He did various Broadway shows and was part of the CBS Staff Orchestra under Ray Bloch. Later, in Miami, he joined the Jackie Gleason Show, and did 6 annual Miss America and Miss Universe Shows. Later in  Las Vegas he worked in the Johnny Haig's Great Relief Band.
      He is now living in Los Angeles with his wife, Bridget, whom he
met  in 1962. They have 2 children, Roy III, who is also a musician, a professional trumpet player, and Ann. Since then he's been busy working in films and with over 100 bands. His TV credits included the Sinatra mini series and since 1993 has done tours throughout U.S. with the Stan Kenton Alumni Orchestra.In recent years he has released four CD's with his own band.
